The Netherlands is not only about canals, bicycles and pretty flowers. Medieval castles are probably not the first thing that comes to your mind when you think of it. Well, there are some worth a shot.
I recently visited Muiderslot castle located very close to Amsterdam. It is ideal for a day trip if you are around and wish to escape from the hustle and bustle of the big city. The castle is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List and it is used as a museum today. There are tours in English and in Dutch.
Muiderslot’s history begins in the Middle Ages. Today it is one of the most beautiful and well preserved castles in The Netherlands.
