WEEKEND VIBES

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend. I woke up today dreaming of the ocean, wild salt air and sun-kissed skin. You would understand if you are obsessed as much as I am with summer and all the good things that come with it. What do you dream about today? Love, Adriana Advertisements

THE PRESSURE OF GROWING UP

I recently turned 27 and for me it was a time to stop for a minute, take a look at myself, see where I am today, and ask some questions. I am just one of many twenty-something year olds trying to make sense of their lives. It’s when you hit the late twenties (or maybe earlier) that it all starts. Your social media feed fills with beautiful engagement rings, wedding photos and cute smiling babies. This can bring a whole lot of emotions. Not all of us will be affected but it doesn’t mean that we can ignore those real anxieties women face as they approach their 30s and their biological clocks tick louder than ever. Even if you don’t want to have children, you can still hear the ticking. We must have found a stable job, made enough money, found someone to have a baby with or figured out that we actually don’t want to have a baby, gone travelling, bought a house…Of course not for everyone the list would look like this, but …

THE 10 REASONS WHY I LOVE FALL

Although summer is my favourite season and I always feel a little sad when it is over, fall has so many nice things to offer too! Here is my list of things that get me excited about the changing seasons. My birthday is on the 25th of September! And very often I am on holiday at that time 🙂 Nice cosy sweaters to keep me warm. The colors! There is nothing more beautiful than watching the leaves change from green to yellow, to orange or deep red. And when they fall off the trees while the wind carries them away… Listening to my favourite song with a hot chocolate in my hand while it is raining outside. Making my morning coffee while still in my pyjamas and drinking it under my favourite blanket. Buying clothes. You need something for the new season right? Nice smelling candles and baths that last hours. Darker evenings mean there’s more time to cosy up! Cancel all my appointments; turn up the heat while watching a good movie or reading …

BLESSED

Life lately… The days are getting longer and sunnier and my happiness levels are rising : ) It’s springtime, by far my favourite time of the year in Holland. It’s time for leather jackets, beach and rose wine. What I’ll never get tired of are those lazy weekends at the beach in Den Haag. I’m blessed to be living so close to the beach. And I obviously get there by bike. You can hardly survive living here without cycling : ) I also finally bough the Rayban sunglasses I’ve been wanting and wore them all day at the beach. Getting ready for the Cuban sun in a week : )))

TIME FOR ADVENTURE

A recent conversation that I had got me thinking – it is so easy to get caught up in routine, work, and deadlines that our lives become boring and monotonous. Whenever I try to see someone just for coffee, it usually happens at least a week or two after we’ve talked. But can we escape habit for a little and be more spontaneous? I need adventure and sparkle in my life – be it taking a last minute trip somewhere warm or exploring a new part of the city. My curiosity and hunger for adventure never leaves me. I think we all need to take the time to try new things, things that excite us and make us feel alive. Are you spontaneous? When was the last time you did something adventurous and unexpected?

LITTLE TREATS

We all have those moments when we need just a little something to lift us up. Very often it seems like an unnecessary purchase but it feels so good! Although such spontaneous purchases should not be too hard on our budget, big or small, they can make a huge difference! For myself, going to the market and buying fresh flowers works like magic. I am all about decorating my space and the flowers bring the place to life. How do you treat yourself? Spa? Fancy places? New book?

11 THINGS ABOUT LIVING ALONE

I moved out when I was 17. Until then I have always lived with my parents. As scary as it was, I was excited to think that it was a new beginning, a new challenge, all part of growing up. I was not only moving to a new city, I changed continents. It was an adventure. Even though I very much enjoy the company of other people and I’ve always been outgoing, spending time alone recharges me and makes a huge difference. I will share with you some of the things that happen when you live alone. You are the queen of the castle. This means you get to set the rules! Nobody complains how you do things, so you live as you like. Pure luxury! The remote control is all yours, all day, everyday. For me this means I get to watch all the TV shows I want and as many comedies as I like. Getting dressed becomes optional.Hello freedom! I love you. The longer you live alone, the more random things you have done without your pants …

COFFEE TALK

While my personal philosophy is that you should aim to make everyday wonderful, with my increasingly busy schedule revolving around work and personal development,  it’s not too difficult to get caught up in the routine. It is harder than ever before to find time for the things I enjoy, be it a nice walk, girl talk, reading a new book, morning run, or drinking coffee. Imagine that you had one day without stressing over work, thinking about school, or other responsibilities. What would your perfect day look like? Would you stay in bed for as long as you can? Maybe you would read a book? Or would you prefer to sit in the sun, sip your favourite drink and watch the people walk by? Tell me all about it.
