TIME FOR ADVENTURE

A recent conversation that I had got me thinking – it is so easy to get caught up in routine, work, and deadlines that our lives become boring and monotonous. Whenever I try to see someone just for coffee, it usually happens at least a week or two after we’ve talked. But can we escape habit for a little and be more spontaneous? I need adventure and sparkle in my life – be it taking a last minute trip somewhere warm or exploring a new part of the city. My curiosity and hunger for adventure never leaves me. I think we all need to take the time to try new things, things that excite us and make us feel alive. Are you spontaneous? When was the last time you did something adventurous and unexpected? Advertisements

TOKYO IN FEBRUARY

It’s been a whole year since my trip to the land of the rising sun. Where did the time go? So to celebrate my one year anniversary, I am writing a post to share my Japanese moments and buying some sushi later today 🙂 Even the jetlag could not stop me from exploring vibrant Tokyo on my first day there. It is a huge city and there are tons of fun things that you can do, all depends on what you like most. So where do I start? Ginza: The area offers luxury shopping, fine dining, and great bars. The stores of leading fashion houses are located in the district. I liked it most at night with all its lights. Shibuya: You have probably seen the Shibuya crossing in the movie Fast and Furious, well, do not miss it when in Tokyo – action in all directions! The area is covered with lights, advertisements, and…PEOPLE! The first time there I crossed this intersection multiple times just for the fun of it 🙂 The area is also very lively, filled with …

DEVETASHKA CAVE

With my future posts I will try to focus more on showing you some hidden gems in the Balkans, as I believe, they deserve a lot more attention than currently attracted. I hope that you will agree with me. Today I take you to the Devetashka cave, situated in a beautiful mountainous region in Bulgaria. You have probably seen The Expendables 2, but do you know that the movie was shot in this beautiful location? Not only the bats in the cave were disturbed by Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Chuck Norris, Jet Li, and Jean-Claude Van Damme, so were the environmentalists. There was even a court ruling, which found some of the filmed scenes to be in breach of environmental regulations (as a jurist, I had to mention this part especially:)). However, this impressive cave has been inhabited thousands of years before Hollywood discovered it. It impressed me with its walls and ceiling from which you can see the sky. The cave is incredibly beautiful when the sun shines through its openings with reflections in the water beneath. If …

MEET ME ON CLOUD 9…LITERALLY

If you are into hiking and climbing you will definitely love Bulgaria. ‘Huh? What?’ ‘Where was that again?’ Bulgaria is not the most popular tourist destination but you’ll be surprised to find out how much this small country can offer. The country side is absolutely gorgeous! Another plus – it’s incredibly cheap. Today I take you with me to the top of Vihren – the highest peak of Bulgaria’s Pirin Mountains, reaching 2,914 meters. It is also Bulgaria’s second and the Balkans’ third highest peak. I’m lucky to be from a town surrounded by mountains and very close to Vihren. It took me about three hours to get to the top with lots of stops along the way to admire the beauty of the mountains. For the more unexperienced I recommend climbing in the summer, as the weather conditions can be a problem during other times of the year. It’s also quite steep and with lots of stones along the way. Make sure you take a good pair of shoes with you.
